Radio / Television Broadcasting In Morocco Radio Broadcasting: The International Mediterranean Radio (Medi 1): Medi 1 is a private station established in July 1980 and is run by a Moroccan company as part of a Moroccan/French partnership and services as a general bilingual station (French and Arabic) of international news and entertainment. Moroccans held 51% of the capital, Frenchmen held 49%. Medi 1 has a transmitting set with a great power in Nador (2 x 1000 kw on long waves) and it is put into operation to transmsit on two short waves (2 x 250 kw). Medi 1 programs are broadcast 18 hours a day. Television Broadcasting: M2, the country's only private station, was purchased by the government in 1996, when its attempt to bring "pay service" television to the country failed. |
